Romans 2:6&7  Who will render to every man according to his deeds: To them who by 'patient continuance' in well doing seek for glory and immortality, eternal life:

The persistence of nature.

I love spring time and mainly because it is an invigorating reminder that summer, in all its glory, is yet to come.  Anticipation is indeed more enjoyable at times than the actual event itself.  One thing that spring time brings to 21 Woodland Road is my arch nemesis, the dreaded 'Robin Red Breast'.  Most people love these birds and revere their tell tale coming as the prophetic announcing of good weather to come but, I've had too much first hand experience with these persistent feathered friends and, they have wore me down to my last living nerve.

There was the summer of the 'Robin in the window' which was marked by tedious behavior that would not cease.  The Robin at my house saw his reflection in the window, took exception to that other birds intrusion and began to attack.  Bang...bang...bang... into its own reflection in the window, ALL. SUMMER. LONG.  I love to clean windows but that would have to wait for another season ( Robins have an interesting amount of dirt, mud and worm matter on them at all times).  I put netting over the window and the Robin soon ( moments later ) discovered yet another window with that same agitating enemy staring right back at him.  I am sure that when that Robin goes back south for the winter he'll be boasting about kicking that other Robins butt, ALL. SUMMER. LONG!  All at the expense of my less than clean netted windows I'll add.

Then there was the torturous spring of the 'nest in the wrong spot', (in the garage, right over my car).  I came out one Sunday morning to go to church (as my custom is), only to find what looked like a half bale of hay (and mud), sitting on the windshield of my car.  My instinctive reaction being one of inquisitiveness "what is all this crap on my Yaris".  Upon closer inspection I couldn't help but notice the, half built, Robins nest in the rafters above.  As quickly as I could demolish these foundational imprints of what would surely become a steady stream of bird droppings on my Toyota, there would be the beginnings of a fresh one there to mock me by the very next day.  I'll not go into the creative lengths I went to, only to conclude the resolve of my flying friend was more than my limited understanding could take.

There is a lesson here and I'm forced to admire the persistence of these Robins and nature in general as it shows little regard for minor setbacks, remaining undaunted in its desire to stay on track.  Why are they so relentless?  Because it's a matter of life and death, existence or oblivion, and, they consider no other option.  They're not tricked by their enemies attempts to foil their success or misdirect them, but remain intensely focused on the task at hand and life itself.

Till Next Week...
